Dingle Greens

The third partner in the governing coalition. An island that runs on volcanic heat, bans fossil fuels outright and holds itself in trust for people not yet born was always going to have a Green party in government.

The Greens

The Dingle Greens campaigned for years for the Twenty-second Amendment, which in 2015 banned the import, refining, sale and burning of fossil fuels and gave the island five years to hand in every petrol and diesel vehicle. The last one was surrendered at Rigobert in 2020 and now sits in the National Collection.

The party’s guiding text is Article 74: everyone is entitled to a healthy environment, and the Republic holds this island in trust for people who are not born yet. It brings that argument to every debate, whatever the subject.

The Greens entered the current coalition with one seat at the Cabinet table, held by their leader as Secretary for the Environment.

Members of the House Purple

BS

David Ben Sagol MHP

Secretary for the Environment · Egg Berth City Region (list)

David Ben Sagol leads the Dingle Greens and sits in the Cabinet as Secretary for the Environment, the post that carries the Constitution’s standing office of Minister for the Commons under Article 63. His brief covers the island’s land, sea and natural resources, which Article 11 says belong to everyone and can never be sold.

He began his political life in the Board of Dinglese Jews before moving to the Greens, and is one of very few Members to have sat for two parties. His surname means “son of purple” in Hebrew, which he says made Dinglese politics more or less inevitable.

  • Party office: Leader of the Dingle Greens
  • Constitutional office: Minister for the Commons (Article 63)
  • Previously: Board of Dinglese Jews

PS

Portia Strauss MHP

Backbench MHP · Sefton Forest

Portia Strauss is one of the youngest Members of the House Purple and one of its most recognisable, with a bright pink and blue bob and a wardrobe sourced almost entirely second-hand. She represents Sefton Forest.

She campaigns on the climate, on carbon accounting across every department of government, and on the conduct of male colleagues towards younger women in politics. She does not waste water and she does not waste words.

  • Constituency: Sefton Forest
  • Interests: Climate, carbon accounting, equality in politics

DR

Dale Ryan MHP

Backbench MHP · Kirby South

Dale Ryan represents Kirby South, one of the four Kirby constituencies. He is a champion of the House Purple’s ceremonial traditions and is rarely seen without a fountain pen, though colleagues advise keeping papers well out of range of it.

  • Constituency: Kirby South
  • Interests: Parliamentary tradition, active travel

MB

Martin Brisket MHP

Backbench MHP · Smithdown City Region (list)

Martin Brisket is a Green list Member for the Smithdown City Region. He holds a small but secure place in parliamentary history: during a 2026 debate on whether Dingle should send a national team to future World Cups, he asked the Speaker whether time could be made for hydration breaks.

The Speaker declined, in terms that cannot be reproduced here. According to The Pink Echo, the House laughed for three minutes and twenty-five seconds.

  • List: Smithdown City Region
  • Interests: Sport, wellbeing

This directory lists Members holding ministerial or party office and others in the public eye. Profiles of all 14 Green Members are being updated following the general election of 3 May 2029.
