Liverpool’s Jewish community is one of the oldest in Britain, and families from it were among those who stood on the Albert Dock in February 1986. The Board of Dinglese Jews was founded to represent them in the new Republic and has kept a presence in the House Purple ever since.
The party is a firm supporter of the State of Israel and often compares the Right of Scouse Settlement to the right of return. It sits apart from the rest of the House on most questions of foreign policy and says so without apology.
Dinglese Jews are not a single bloc. Many vote for other parties, and the current Secretary for the Environment, David Ben Sagol, began his political career in the BDJ before joining the Dingle Greens.
